Windsor Mill man dies after crashing into dump truck on I-83
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - A man from the Windsor Mill area died early Tuesday after his car crashed into a truck that was clearing debris on I-83 in the Mt. Washington area.
The crash happened at about 2:25 a.m., on I-83 near Kelly Avenue.
Thomas Linzey, 49, of Kenmar Road, was driving a 2000 Honda Civic north on I-83 when he crashed directly into a Department of Public Works dump truck, according to a news release.
"There were no signs of braking or evasive maneuvers before the Honda Civic struck the DPW dump truck," according to the news release.
The dump truck had been deployed to clear debris, and was moving north slowly. It was working with an arrow board and a rear crash bar, according to the news release.
Police arrived to find the driver and passenger of the dump truck trying to extinguish smoke from Linzey's car and help him.
Linzey was taken to Sinai Hospital and died shortly after.
Investigators determined Linzey was solely at fault and the dump truck driver was lawfully operating his vehicle.
