BALTIMORE (WBFF)-- A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the entire area, except the eastern shore which is under a winter storm watch, through 7pm Wednesday evening, for a plowable snow accumulation of generally 4-8”, followed by some icing and eventually a change to all rain.
It was the calm before the storm on Tuesday with sunshine and chillier highs near 40.
The brunt of the system will move in during the Wednesday morning commute, accumulating snow, heavy at times with 1-2” snowfall rates developing, and falling heavily at times through the middle of the day and into the early afternoon.
Later in the afternoon, warmer air should move in with a change to sleet and freezing rain then eventually rain for all Wednesday evening.
Overall, accumulations will be in the neighborhood of about 4-8” with a coating of ice on top, before the switch to rain.
Thursday, with the warmer air in place and showers will end early in the morning, then weather will be starkly different With some PM sun, we’ll rise in the much milder 50's!
The unsettled, but milder trend will then continue into the weekend.
