BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WBFF) - Baltimore County police say they have arrested and charged the woman responsible for striking and killing a woman and her grandchild while they were taking an early morning walk Monday.
It's not the first time the driver has been charged with drinking and driving.
Callie Schwarzman, 22, of Timonium, was arrested Tuesday night on a warrant for violation of probation for a drunk driving offense in Carroll County in 2017. Investigators received a warrant for her arrest on Wednesday morning for DUI and vehicular homicide charges related to the deaths of 60-year-old Deborah Limmer and 5-year-old Delaney Gaddis.
While the Baltimore County Crash Team continues its investigation into Monday's crash, investigators say the vehicle was traveling southbound on Girdwood Road when Schwarzman lost control just south of Treherne Road, veering across the roadway and onto the sidewalk, striking Limmer and Gaddis, who was being pushed in a stroller up the sidewalk toward Treherne Road.
The vehicle returned to the roadway and stopped just before Londonderry Road. During the course of the investigation, a search warrant for the Kia Sorento that Schwarzman was driving at the time of the crash was obtained and evidence of alcohol and a controlled, dangerous substance was recovered.
Schwarzman, who was transported to Greater Baltimore Medical Center, consented to a blood test that was submitted to the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division for analysis. The results of the test remain pending.
After consulting with the Assistant State's Attorney Office for Baltimore County, Schwarzman is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, driving while so far impaired by drugs/drugs and alcohol cannot drive safely, driving while impaired by controlled dangerous substance, two counts of negligent manslaughter by automobile, two counts of homicide by motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, two counts of homicide by motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, and two counts of homicide by motor vehicle while impaired by CDS.
She is being held without bail pending a bail review hearing.
