Man charged with hate crime for snatching Jewish women's head coverings
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (WBFF) - A California man is being charged with hate crimes for snatching the head coverings off of Jewish women.
Authorities say the attacks began on Yom Kippur.
The suspect reportedly walked up to the victims and snatched the coverings.
On one occasion, police say, he handed a wig back to a victim.
In another instance, he reportedly threw a woman's wig on the ground.
Many Orthodox Jewish women cover their heads after marriage, as a sign of modesty.
