WASHINGTON (SBG) -- Hillary Clinton's campaign and the Democratic National Convention contributed money to the research that led to the dossier of allegations against President Donald Trump and his business and political ties to Russia, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.
Citing "people familiar with the matter," the report said that a lawyer representing both parties -- Marc E. Elias -- hired a firm, Fusion GPS, through his law firm, Perkins Coie, in April 2016.
Fusion GPS then went on to hire former British intelligence officer Christopher Stelle, who authored the dossier; a collection of reports on how the Kremlin actively assisted the Trump campaign.
The Clinton campaign and DNC funded his efforts until October 2016.
According to the report, it is unclear how much of the dossier was shared with the campaign and the DNC.
